tripped out waitressOne Sunny Saturday Afternoon, we were looking for some Quick, Classic Americana bar food to watch the second half of the game. Driving by the NMB Alehouse, a Mega-Sportsbar filled with truckloads of oversized big screen TV’s playing every sports game televised in the eastern hemisphere, we thought we had hit the jackpot…

As we entered the doors, the octave of the sound system was noticable… to a deaf person. It was so loud, that we could not comprehend the menu without moving our seats to a booth farthest away from the sound system. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with loud pulsating music and dancing until the sun comes up…. but televised sports in an enclosed area at 4 in the afternoon at the sound level of a rave is slightly annoying.

Our waitress approached our table with a plastered, spaced out smile and a daze reminicent to the 70’s, to which she made no direct eye contact, and completed our order with an “Okkkkkkk, awesomeeeee” …. “Okkkkk, greaaaat…” All jokes aside, the woman had to have done heavy doses of PCP in her younger years. And I am still debating whether or not she had slipped in a few sarcastic comments, but I just chalk it up to heavy drug use.

The food was preciesly what we were looking for, regular bar food… artichoke spinach dip, nachos, burgers, pasta with cajun shrimp, fish tacos… basically anything that you can get at Fridays. Nothing Special. They seem to take pride in their “Zingers”, but I am convinced they bought them from Costco.

The beer selection was basic, contrary to what you may believe from the name. I was expecting something more along the lines of a microbrewery or the Hop Devil Grill in the LES of Manhattan, but was disappointed.

Overall, I would say skip the NMB Alehous, save yourself a tension headache, and hit up a Ruby Tuesdays… at least Ruby Tuesdays has Crab Cakes… “Aweeesssoooooomeeee”
